Dear Dora, 

While insulator collecting has been a way of life for me since 1948, I've also found great pleasure in the history of the telephone, telegraph and associated supply and manufacturing companies.

I am currently cataloging all, I hope, telephone companies past and present in the U.S.. The number runs into thousands so it's no easy task. 

While pursuing this information I ran across a paragraph in a 1902 issue of the Telephone Magazine that should interest all collectors of Harloes. I quote:

The Harloe Insulator Co. of Hawley, Pa. are placing upon the market their latest invention -- a self-tying Insulator -- which they claim is vastly superior to the present style of insulator.

It's too bad they didn't explain which CD they were to produce, 109.5 or 206.5. As I have a considerable library of early books, magazines etc. on communications subjects I'll be sending more tidbits as time will allow.
